On May 12, 2010 the Addendum to the National Concept of Operations for Maritime Domain Awareness was approved by the Maritime Security Interagency Policy Committee. The addendum addressed the coordination structure for National Maritime Domain Awareness.
A whole-of-government approach to improving the nation's MDA, requires full stakeholders participation. US federal government departments and agencies shall coordinate and cooperate at every possible opportunity to decrease costs, increase effectiveness and ensure productive exchange with our state, local, tribal, business and industry, and international partners.

The Global Maritime Information Sharing Symposium (GMISS) is an annual event hosted by the National Maritime Domain Awareness Coordination Office (NMCO) to align U.S. Government outreach to the maritime industry and improve and increase industry-government maritime information sharing partnerships.
