The Third Technical Exchange on AIS via Satellite (TEXAS III) will be held by the National Office of Global Maritime Situational Awareness (OGMSA) and the United States Coast Guard 18-19 August 2009 in Washington, DC. Last year's event was attended by over 60 people from five countries. This year's meting promises to be significantly bigger. Briefs will focus on AIS from space, either the technical challenges of collecting, processing and disseminating the information, or its utility in accomplishing the maritime awareness mission, especially when paired with other sensors. The Canadian Government has graciously offered to host the two day event at its embassy at 501 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW Washington, D.C. 20001. They will need a roster of who is planning to attend NLT COB Wednesday, 12 August, so if you are even considering on planning to attend please get your name to YNC Jesus Morales at Jesus.M.Morales@uscg.mil.
There will be a third day on related classified subjects held at the National Space Security Office on 20 August. Plans are to hold a SECRET meeting on the morning of 20 August and an SCI level meeting that afternoon. Clearance passing instructions can be provided upon request.
